Creativity and Innovation Concepts

If continuous improvement is not enough, what now?

Today's development activities call for more creativity and innovation than ever before. Leading organizations are in a leading position because of their ability to creatively innovate. If you doubt this, notice how often the word "agile" appears in project management and testing methods.

Continuous improvement simply is not enough.  Creativity and Innovation are what is called for.  Toyota recently announced that they wanted to build a car using only 1/2 the parts.  You can't do that via continuous improvement.

By contrast, failure to innovate may have been responsible for the recent decline of the "former" big 3 automakers (Ford, Chrysler, and GM), with over 104,000 jobs lost.

The man who has no imagination has no wings.
Muhammad Ali

They are ill discoverers that think there is no land, when they can see nothing but sea.
Francis Bacon

It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.
Lewis Carroll

There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds.
Gilbert K. Chesterton

Live out of your imagination, not your history.
Stephen Covey

Learn how to improve your talents with creativity and innovation!  Some of these topics were covered in the April 2007 QAI Conference in Orlando, and it was a big hit there.

Abstract: During this first WEBinar of two parts, we will show you definitions, concepts, and tools for creativity, invention, discovery, innovation, and utilization.  These include the creativity cycle, the micro/macro structure, chunking up and down, and creative problem solving.

Please note, if you register for the "live" event or "Both": Shortly after your payment is confirmed, you will receive an email with an embedded link, to complete the registration process.  Please click on that link and fill out the left side of the form promptly to finish registration.  You will then get a second email with your unique link (second bullet, "Other users") which you will use to join the meeting.

Recertification credits: 1 PDU (PMI), 1 CPE (QAI)

Please note: The first Wednesday in July is the USA holiday, Independence Day, so July's normal WEBinar date has been moved up 1 week.

Conducted: Wed. June 27,  2007
